The Wing
A Different Angle
Set in Amsterdam North’s Overhoeks neighborhood, The Wing is set between the open landscape of Schegpark and the neighborhood square. The building curves around this meeting point, framing views from the apartments toward the EYE Filmmuseum and A’DAM Tower while sheltering a communal garden at its center. The result is an elegant residential building that combines the energy of city life with the calm of the surrounding landscape.
The goal was to create a refined, holistic design: the soft curves of the building, varied outdoor spaces, and arrival experience all contribute to a sense of calm.’

The Art of Arrival
Two central entrances organize the building’s shared spaces. Here, daylight filters through glass roofs into a central void and washes over white plaster walls and warm wood details, establishing The Wing’s calming ambiance. A music-and-art concept amplifies this atmosphere: speakers installed at the entrances and in the garden play custom playlists, while paintings by local artists animate the shared interiors. Together, these elements make the daily act of arriving home an experience in itself.

We wanted The Wing to feel connected to Amsterdam, but also to offer residents a genuine sense of retreat. The garden and outdoor spaces are central to that balance.’

Curves and Contrasts
Gray travertine gives the building a refined, tactile character, with the stone’s natural veining enhanced by the color contrast between the walls and balconies. Open bar railings complete the composition, maintaining an open, spacious feel.

Inside, Outside, Overhoeks
The design’s response to the site continues in its integration of outdoor spaces: every apartment includes a private balcony or roof terrace. In several places, the stepped facade creates deeper balconies that extend the living areas outward and provide more generous room to sit, gather, and enjoy the view. Large glass fronts bring daylight into the apartments and frame views toward the EYE Filmmuseum and A’DAM Tower. The communal garden offers a more sheltered shared landscape, balancing this openness with a sense of retreat while central Amsterdam remains close by.
We designed The Wing as a thoughtful response to its surroundings: its curves, material palette, and outdoor spaces work together to give every home a sense of refinement and connection to the city.’
