Rise

Rotterdam Renaissance

Located at the corner of Hofplein, RISE stands as a testament to thoughtful integration within Rotterdam’s urban landscape. This project boasts an all-around open plinth and residential high-rises, poised to make a significant mark on the city’s skyline and fabric. It offers a harmonious blend of living, working, and recreational spaces, creating a vibrant atmosphere in the city. The architectural prowess of the three towers aligns with important urban axes, Coolsingel and Weena-Pompenburg, and highlights the upcoming public park of Hofplein. The Hofplein Tower, soaring to 284 meters, is set to become the tallest in the Netherlands, symbolizing a new era in architectural and urban development.

Collaborative State of Mind

RISE’s location is part of the Rotterdam high-rise vision

Collaborative State of Mind

You can’t create a landmark on your own. For RISE, we’ve collaborated with experts and involved our stakeholders, such as the City of Rotterdam and housing corporation Havensteder and gained valuable insight from local residents, entrepreneurs, retailers, and users in the area. Our ensemble, consisting of five identities – the Hofplein Tower, Pompenburg Tower and Block, Coolsingel Tower and Block – is an addition to the metropolitan ambitions of the city.

We drew inspiration from Alexander Bodon’s innovative method, opting for a more contemporary approach that utilizes hybrid timber construction instead of pre-tensioned concrete.

Pompenburg Block

Grandeur, Urban, and Refined

Plinths are transparent, facing the city, and all-sided accessible
The open plinths of the buildings allow social encounters
Between buildings there is space for relaxation and gatherings
RISE brings back the vibrancy of yesteryears to the location

Contribution and Care

We have set high sustainability ambitions for RISE. It is structured along the pillars of social sustainability, energy transition, circularity, climate adaptation, a healthy living environment, and sustainable mobility. RISE is designed according to the energy triad: we reduce energy demand, utilize sustainably generated energy as much as possible, and efficiently use fossil fuels. This applies to both residential units, hotels, and offices. We aim to generate as much energy as possible within the project itself, mostly through PV panels integrated into the facade, maximizing the rooftop for green, shared outdoor space.
