Moscow Penthouse
The Luxury of Space
Our design for a 2 500 m² Moscow penthouse combines extreme openness with a meticulous and intelligent spatial organization. The result celebrates the luxurious spaciousness of this four-floor apartment, while providing a harmonious feeling of home.
Using a system of abstract white vaults, we generated an array of different spaces and atmospheres.’

Our client presented us with a wide range of programmatic demands for this project – everything from a wine cellar and an art gallery, to a gaming room and a teriyaki bar. We wanted to provide all of these without interrupting the powerful sensation of continuous space. Our solution was to create a strong core around a dramatic spiral staircase, allowing the space to flow freely around it. We used swooping white vaults, in a range of different forms and scales, to define the various functions, and to capture and reflect the daylight and frame the views.
One of our largest living spaces, this apartment uses different scales for each function – a strategy we borrowed from urban design.
