Leiden Bio Science Park

A people centric work environment

Our cutting-edge office building, which includes laboratory facilities, is situated in the renowned Leiden Bio Science Park. Through innovative and sustainable design, we have established new benchmarks for 21st-century workspaces; By revitalising the ground floor with a blend of work-related functions, this building transcends the traditional office concept. It becomes a dynamic hybrid space that fosters innovation and encourages collaboration.

Design Excellence

Corner glass panels ensure openness to the surroundings

Design Excellence

Health, safety, interaction, and transparency were the core values in our design, fully tailored to the wishes and requirements of the users. A spacious atrium on the ground and first floor contains shared functions. The large roof allows abundant daylight to enter the building, creating an inviting space for employees and visitors. We placed the laboratories on the first two floors and the offices on the floors above. The third floor provides access to a communal garden and roof terrace, contributing to a healthy and pleasant working environment. We aimed for an ambitiously sustainable and high-quality building, which has received a BREEAM Excellent and WELL Gold certificate.

We designed the labs on two floors, with the possibility to extend the wings, future-proofing the building.

Lighting Influenced

Excessive windows strengthen the connection with the outdoors

Lighting Influenced

We prioritised flexibility as a guiding principle due to the building’s multiple functions. Large, open floors offer adaptability to support various activities. The expansive windows create a seamless transition to the campus landscape. Workspaces, labs, meeting rooms, and support areas are distributed across the floors, allowing for diverse configurations thanks to the flexible layout. By using the latest energy-efficient LED lighting, we reduce total energy consumption, enhancing the building’s sustainability. Lighting also significantly impacts employee performance and well-being. The predominantly glass façade maximises natural light, contributing to a healthier and more productive environment.

Optimal Flexibility

As the grid sizes of the offices differ from those of the laboratories, we carefully navigated these variations to ensure a seamless fit.
