Het Grote Huis

A Residential Palace

We reinterpret a true classic – the grand country house – with our design for a new development in a historic estate. Het Grote Huis (literally, The Big House) offers its residents the chance to live surrounded by space, nature, history and gracious architecture, without sacrificing the conveniences of modern life.

Immersed in nature

Immersed in nature

Our modern-day manor is located in Buitenplaats Haagwijk, a country-park estate dating back to the 17th century. The beautiful surrounding landscape was our starting point. The park forms part of a unique area connecting green polders and seaside dunes, and has historic links to nearby Duivenvoorde castle. Yet the location between Leiden and The Hague offers residents the best of both worlds: access to restful nature, even within the urban conglomeration of the Randstad. We wanted to underscore the natural vibe by creating a strong relationship between our buildings, the gardens, the park and the surrounding landscape.

It’s a unique responsibility to add a contemporary building to a historic estate like this one. We created a collection of wonderful apartments that together form one stylish whole. It’s our timeless interpretation of living on an estate.
