District E

Neighborhood Innovation

District E is a celebration of Eindhoven as the city of Technology, Design, and Knowledge with a vibrant program woven into a dynamic urban plaza – breathing life into a formerly barren inner-city plot. The new district, based on the city’s street patterns, connects the station with the existing shopping district. Soaring into three elegant towers, it’s a defining and iconic addition to the city’s skyline.

The stepped lower floors of our design cater to a human scale, creating a lively and activated streetscape.

Sensitive steps

Rising above a fully public and richly programmed plinth, terraced setbacks gently introduce three slender residential towers. Together with our client Amvest, we’ve created a mix of luxury homes, affordable, and social housing that ensures living provision accessible to all.
With its stepped use of scale, our design is sensitive to the adjacent Eindhoven Station, a much-loved national monument, and strikes a balance between the fine 17th century tissue of the old Eindhoven center to the south and the 20th century, large-scale buildings lining the railway.

District E reflects the creativity of Eindhoven’s pioneering and experimental spirit, captured in a powerful icon.
