Brutus

Inhabitable Sculpture

Together with Atelier Van Lieshout, we have crafted a unique development that will act as a catalyst for the growth of the Rotterdam Merwe-Vierhaven District. Unlike any other development in the world, Brutus is a striking symbiosis of culture, living, working, and art in the public space for a diverse spectrum of users. It is a place where creation, inspiration, talent development, and relaxation are key.

A Cultural Catalyst

With Brutus, we’re complimenting the transformation of the Merwe-Vierhaven area (M4H) by adding a mix of typologies, including plenty of affordable housing and special arrangements such as artist residences and communal living spaces. The foundation of the plan is a cultural hub housing the Brutus Museum, Atelier van Lieshout, artist studios, cultural venues, and makerspaces. Integrated throughout the plan is a unique sculpture garden accessible to all.

Brutus will serve as an artist-driven playground, a cultural highlight in the city, and a home to a diverse community of inhabitants.
